Gene Camozzi’s First Game Against Burlingame

Burlingame Advanced, September 22, 1922
The rivalry between neighboring towns like San Mateo and Burlingame was fierce. Bragging rights meant a lot to the sports minded citizen. When San Mateo had the game in hand and Manager Brown attempted to pull his starting pitcher and send Camozzi to the mound. A neat riot ensued, which took 45 minute to restore peace and clear the field. In the end Camozzi went back to the dugout. Burlingame fans and baseball management felt that Gene Camozzi was a ringer.
