April 18, 1923 Burlingame Advance
San Mateo opened their season Sunday by playing to the largest crowd ever attending the game on the Peninsula.
Getting off to a clean-cut victory in their first contest in the new park put the players and fans in a merry mood. Camozzi pitched a nice game and was master of the situation all the way.
Esola was the batting fiend for the winners, while Guido was the fielding star. Logan at short was and Happy Hughes playing second for the visitors, played sensational ball in the field.
