January 22—The Presidio Natives prevented the San Francisco Fire Department nine, their bitterest enemies, from clinching the National League penant when they decisively defeated them yesterday at Ewing Fieldby a 5 to 2 score. Reeves hurled unbeatable ball for the Natives. allowing the Firemen but eight scattered bingles.
The San Francisco Fire department scored the first tally of the game in the third inning. The Presidio Natives came back in the same frame and hammered Zweirlin for four runs and as many hits.
The Granat Brothers evened their score with the Newbaurs when they hanaded them an 8 to 2 beating inthe other game at Ewing field. The Brothers finished their playing schedule yesterday because their next two opponents have forfeited the trussel to them. The Newbaures still have two games to play and one defeat may cost them the flag. Camozzi twirled a masterly contest for the winners.
