Granat Bros. Winners From S.F. Police

March 5—Maybe there have been ball games at Recreation Park that have equaled the Granat Bros. and San Franciasco Police Department contest staged yesterday, but none that ever surpassed that struggle.

What a wonderful ball game it was—the Cops trying to put in their final punch to clinch the second honors of the San Francisco Midwinter League, and the Granats doing their mightiest to tie the count of the series, which they nobly did, 3 to 1.

To much credit cannot be given the two twirlers of the day, Gene Camozzi, the victor, and Ren Kelly, the Vanquished. The former gave out five bingles, only one until the eighth, and Kelly was even more stingy in the total with the slim number of three, although one was good for three bags and the other for two stations, which, by the way, proved his undoing.

Jack Snavely went back to the left-field fence and foul line to rob Pete Ritchie of one of the hardest-hit balls seen in the Valencia street lot in a many a day. It was a real case of robbery in the highest degree. Little Chief Esola showed the fans what a easy trick it was to go from first to home on an infield out by just outguessing the opposition.

These two teams will again mix matters next Sunday at Recreation Park, which will be the final game in the San Francisco Midwinter League.
