When Swede Risberg was a North Beach kid

by admin on November 5, 2010

Most people know Swede Risberg as the character in the movie Eight Men Out. One of baseball’s most notorious players in the history of the game, especially the World Series. “Swede is a hard guy,” Joe Jackson once said. Here is a news clipping from Gene Camozzi’s scrapbook, circa 1910. This is from the San Francisco Elementry School Champions – Hancock Grammar School. The big kid in the back row is Charles Risberg. The little guy in the back row right is Gene Camozzi. Back then it was just two kids from the North Beach.
